One bottle of Scotch whisky fetched about $2.7 million at Sotheby's in London. This documentary counts down the ten most expensive whiskies and wines ever sold at auction, from charity records in Napa Valley and New Orleans to a 1945 Romanée-Conti that sold twice, Japan's record-breaking Yamazaki and Karuizawa bottles, the world's largest bottle of Scotch, and the cask of 1926 Macallan behind the biggest results of all, including a new sale in October 2026.

Prices are auction results including buyer's fees where published. Pounds and Hong Kong dollars are converted at the rate on the day of each sale, so dollar figures are approximate. Each whisky or wine is counted once, at its highest auction price, and charity auctions are included. The $6.2 million figure often quoted for Isabella's Islay is an asking price, not a recorded sale, so it is not ranked.
